Wishing all the talented competitors` good luck as they take to the stage today at the newly opened Smithfield Library. Their Youth Open Mic is part of Queensland Youth Week and a great opportunity for local musicians and performers to showcase their talents.

Run Port Douglas is quickly becoming one of the region’s marquee sporting events, with more than 2,000 participants expected this year.
This event is about showcasing everything Port Douglas has to offer, from the reef to the rainforest, and now running.
Events like Run Port Douglas play a vital role in driving visitation and supporting local businesses, helping strengthen our region as a premier destination for sport and lifestyle tourism.
Held over Father’s Day weekend, Run Port Douglas is the perfect excuse to bring Dad up for a getaway combining a great run with a relaxing tropical holiday. There are distances from 2km all the way to 21.1 km so something for everyone. Or, you can cheer from the sidelines which is definitely more my pace.
I’m proud to introduce the Youth Parliament Member for Barron River, Samuel Chesters.
Samuel will be travelling to Brisbane this weekend to represent our region in Parliament. Having met with him several times over the past year, I’ve seen firsthand his passion and commitment, and I know he will represent our community exceptionally well.

It was great to meet with the team from Himalayan Community Care Services and discuss what they are doing in the disability support industry.
Looking forward to seeing the impact of initiatives like the upcoming Unity Cup, bringing people together through sport and cultural celebration.
