Hello, I’m Bree James, and I am proud to be your Member of Parliament for the Electorate of Barron River as well as the Assistant Minister for Tourism, Early Learning, Creative Industries and Far North Queensland.

My electorate runs from Machans Beach to Ellis Beach, to Kuranda to Koah, and down the hill to Redlynch Valley all the way to Stratford and everywhere in between.

I believe politics isn’t just for politicians. It’s for every single person who cares about their family, their friends, their community, and the kind of future we’re building together for our region, our state and our country.

When you cast your vote, you’re not just choosing a name, you’re choosing someone to be your leader in parliament who will fight for what matters for our region.

For years, local families, students and sporting clubs have called for a safer connection between Ryan Weare Park and Redlynch Striker United Football Club.

Thanks to funding through the Active Transport Grants Program, a new 1.5km shared pathway will be built, including a bridge over Freshwater Creek and safer access for local schools.

This project will make it easier and safer for kids to ride to school, young athletes to get to training, and families to stay active and connected.

A shout out to everyone to advocated for this pathway - students, parents, community groups, sporting clubs and Councillor Kristy Vallely, whose tireless work helped get this project across the line. When communities speak up and work together, great things happen.

The team has already arrested 227 offenders on 868 offences, targeting the repeat offenders who have caused so much disruption across the Tablelands and Far North Queensland.

Backing that effort is a stronger Queensland Police Service, with more than 13,000 officers now serving across the state, including 267 new police in Cairns.

We will keep going. More police, stronger laws, fewer victims. I want to thank Police Minister Dan Purdie and FNQ Acting Chief Superintendant Mick Searle for keeping the community informed and updated.

Far North Queensland is home to so many dedicated young athletes who put in the hard work at training, support their teammates, and proudly represent their clubs.
