An upgraded playground is coming to Clifton Beach!
Silver Crescent Playground between Clifton Beach and Palm Cove is getting a makeover. Shout-out to Cr Brett Olds Deputy Mayor - Cairns Regional Council who has worked closely with the community and Cairns Regional Council to help progress this much-needed upgrade.
I`m looking forward to seeing this popular local park get some well-deserved love and become an even better space for local families to enjoy for years to come.
Well done Cairns Regional Council!
Stan Williams Park upgrade is officially complete thanks to the Crisafulli Government`s Games On! Funding stream. The Sports Minister and I toured the new facilities earlier this month and they look amazing! Stan Williams is set to host the Rubgy 7s later this month and is the new temporary home of the Northern Pride too.
I look forward to seeing plenty more sporting events secured at this venue.
We`ve just passed some of the strongest child protection laws in Queensland`s history.
Our new laws establish the Queensland Protection Commission, bringing key child safeguarding functions together under one roof, creating a dedicated Intelligence Hub to identify risks earlier, and strengthening penalties for those who fail in their responsibilities to protect children.
These reforms are about one thing: keeping Queensland children safe.

What a week for futsal in the Far North!
For the first time ever, Redlynch proudly hosted the Queensland Representative School Sport Futsal State Championships, welcoming 400+ athletes from across Queensland to our region for eight days of incredible competition, teamwork and sportsmanship.
A huge congratulations to our Peninsula Girls teams, with both the U14s and U16s finishing an impressive third place! What an achievement!
Congratulations to Jade, Jasmine, Charlotte, Payton and Pegasus on their selection in the Queensland team. An incredible achievement and a testament to your hard work, dedication and talent.
We’re so proud of all our athletes, coaches and supporters who made this championship such a special event. What a fantastic showcase of school sport and futsal talent in our region!
ICYMI: Powderfinger is coming to Cairns. Hats off to 7NEWS Cairns for the coverage and to Frank Russo for delivering a masterclass in how many Powderfinger references can be included in a single interview.
Our government wants Queensland to be the events capital of Australia. That means actively pursuing major events, working with industry and making sure regional Queensland gets its share of opportunities including Powderfinger and the T20 Gold Clash. Take a look at my speech from last night as I shared My Happiness in the chamber.
