The Crisafulli Government is delivering easier access to health services with the rollout of new life-saving defibrillators across Far North Queensland.
Funded through the Government’s $1 billion investment in the Queensland Ambulance Service, these advanced defibrillators will be fully rolled out statewide by September 30, giving paramedics access to the latest technology when responding to emergencies.
Around 100 new ZOLL X-Series defibrillators have been delivered to Far North Queensland, with 97% of local paramedics already trained in their use.
The devices do far more than deliver shocks in cardiac emergencies. They also measure:
- heart rhythms
- blood pressure
- oxygen levels
- respiration rates
Crucially, the technology allows patient data to be shared instantly with Brisbane specialists, giving rural and remote paramedics access to real-time clinical advice and enabling faster, more effective care for patients in critical condition.
The Crisafulli Government has invested $10 million to deliver 1,400 new defibrillators for ambulances and stations right across the state.
This forms part of the Government’s broader commitment to deliver health services when and where Queenslanders need them, including a fully funded Hospital Rescue Plan to address ramping and deliver more free healthcare than ever before.
Our Easier Access to Health Services Plan will deliver the critical health services when you need them most. We are investing in these defibrillators because they will save lives, and equip our paramedics with the technology needed to deliver world-class healthcare to the Far North Queensland community.
During their decade of inaction, Labor left the Queensland Ambulance Service underfunded and allowed ramping rates to soar to 45.5 per cent – the highest in the nation.
The Crisafulli Government is acting decisively to heal Labor’s health crisis, ensuring Queenslanders in every region — including the Far North — can access the emergency care they deserve.
