Far North Queensland’s arts and cultural sector has received a major boost, with three leading local organisations set to share in more than $2.4 million through the Organisations Fund 2026–29.
This landmark investment will support theatre, dance, circus, and visual arts experiences across our region, creating jobs and delivering new opportunities for local artists and young people.
For me, this funding is about much more than numbers — it’s about securing the future of the incredible creative talent we have here in the Far North. It means local stories will continue to be told on our stages, in our galleries, and in our community spaces. It means our children can be inspired by seeing their culture and community reflected through the arts. And it means the many hardworking artists, staff and volunteers who keep this sector alive will have the certainty they need to grow and thrive.
Over the next four years, this investment will allow:
- JUTE Theatre Company to continue creating world-class theatre with strong community connections
- Nintiringanyi Indigenous Corporation to share cultural experiences and empower young people through creativity
- NorthSite Contemporary Arts Ltd to showcase local artists and deliver innovative visual arts programs
This is a huge win for Cairns and the Far North. It positions our region strongly as we look towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, when the world’s attention will be on Queensland.
The Crisafulli Government’s record $39.2 million Organisations Fund is about recognising the value of regional voices and ensuring our local talent has the support it needs to shine. I’m proud to see Far North Queensland at the heart of this investment — because when our artists thrive, our communities thrive too.
