Far North Queensland is set to benefit from the Crisafulli Government’s landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund, with funding to fast-track critical infrastructure and unlock a further 190 new homes across the region.
The Government has today announced $18.1 million under the Fund to support the construction of five priority projects in Cook Shire Council, Douglas Shire Council, and Cassowary Coast Regional Council. These projects will transform local greenfield and infill sites into fully serviced residential estates, helping to ease housing pressures in FNQ.

Craiglie Residential Subdivision, Port Douglas – $6.6 million

Transforming a 19.6-hectare site into a fully serviced residential estate.

Includes stormwater drainage, water and sewerage infrastructure, internal roads, and upgraded access to the Captain Cook Highway and Andreassen Road.

Seaview Estate Subdivision, Mission Beach – $5.4 million

Infrastructure for water reticulation, sewerage (including a new pump station), stormwater drainage, and roadworks.

The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is a cornerstone of the Crisafulli Government’s Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan, aimed at breaking down barriers for both infill and greenfield residential developments.

At least half of the Fund is dedicated to regional, rural, and remote Queensland.

Round one of the Fund will deliver up to $1 billion in 2025–26 — doubled from the original $500 million — to fast-track shovel-ready projects.
