Far North Queensland is set to benefit in a big way from the Crisafulli Government’s Residential Activation Fund, with nearly 3,000 new homes to be unlocked across our region. In round one of the fund – which was doubled in the State Budget to $1 billion – we’re seeing real investment in the infrastructure needed to help ease Queensland’s housing crisis.

A total of $89 million will go towards 16 critical infrastructure projects across FNQ, in partnership with councils including Aurukun, Cook, Mareeba, Northern Peninsula Area, Pormpuraaw, Torres, Cassowary Coast, and Tablelands. These projects will help deliver essential services like water, sewerage, stormwater, and road access – the groundwork needed to unlock thousands of residential blocks.

This is all part of the Crisafulli Government’s $2 billion Residential Activation Fund, with at least half earmarked for regional and remote Queensland. It’s a huge step toward addressing the housing shortage while also supporting local economies through job creation and construction activity.

As your Member for Barron River, I’m incredibly proud that almost 3,000 homes will be unlocked in our region, helping more Queenslanders find a place to call home.

This is how we deliver real, tangible change for communities that were long overlooked. A place to live is a basic need – and the Residential Activation Fund is helping us meet it.
