The Birch Street Community Hub go above and beyond to help those in need, helping 100’s of residents in Cairns every week.
They also host a playgroup, have counselling services and a lovely meeting space upstairs with several areas open to the community to hire. The indoor and outdoor spaces are simply stunning with plenty of light and fun for the little ones.
The Birch Street Community Hub is one of 129 in Queensland providing local, community-led responses and critical social infrastructure, funded by the Queensland Government.
Osborne Construction Solutions Pty did a great job on this building and it’s even been submitted for an architectural award. It really is spectacular and what a difference from their previous facility. Congratulations to the entire team and thank you for letting me officially open this space on behalf of Minister for Families, Amanda Camm.

What a beautiful morning as we officially opened the new Birch Street Community Hub. The team has done an amazing job creating a welcoming space for those in need with free bread, meals and pantry items available on select days.
The Birch Street Community Hub at Manunda has been replaced with a new building. $3.85 million was allocated by DFSDSCS for demolition of the previous facility and construction of the purpose-built replacement.
