The Crisafulli Government has launched the Empowering Queensland Women (EQW) Grants Program, and it’s a golden opportunity for organisations right here in Far North Queensland to step forward and make a lasting impact for women and girls in our communities.

With a total of $540,000 available, the program has been split into two rounds, each worth $270,000, with grants of up to $10,000 per applicant. Round One applications are open now and close on 30 October 2025.

The EQW Grants are designed to enhance women’s economic security and create opportunities for them to reach their full potential. Funding supports initiatives that deliver long-term benefits for women and girls across the State, including projects linked to:

  • Financial literacy
  •  Training programs
  • Networking opportunities
  •  Events and workshops
  • Leadership development

To be eligible, applicants must be one of the following:

  • An incorporated not-for-profit organisation

  • An incorporated association

  • An Indigenous corporation

  • A Queensland university

  • A Queensland local government authority

Applicants will also need to meet funding conditions, such as holding public liability insurance.

Women in regional and remote areas like Far North Queensland face unique challenges when it comes to economic security, education, and employment opportunities. This grant program is an important chance to support local initiatives that:

  • Build skills and confidence

  • Create pathways into work and leadership

  • Strengthen our communities from the ground up

If you’re part of a local community group, Indigenous organisation, university, or council in FNQ, now is the time to put forward your ideas. Your project could be the one that helps transform the lives of women and girls in our region.

Applications close 30 October 2025.
