Eleven remarkable local winners were recognised across various award categories — each one a shining example of how training changes lives, strengthens industries, and builds brighter futures. From youth work and mental health to animal health and construction, the breadth of expertise and passion on display was truly impressive.

Among the standout winners:

  • Kayla Gagai from Cairns, awarded Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year, completed her Certificate IV in Youth Work and now plays a leading role in the Vocational Partnership Group’s First Nations Leadership Team.

  • Tableland Veterinary Service from Upper Barron took home Medium Employer of the Year, thanks to their strong commitment to staff development and leadership training in animal health.

  • Adam Breadon from Clifton Beach, awarded Equity Student of the Year, shared his inspiring journey of completing dual Diplomas in Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs. Now working with St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland, Adam uses his lived experience to support others through crisis.

These regional champions will now head to Brisbane for the State Final in September, with the opportunity to represent Queensland at the national Australian Training Awards in Darwin.

The energy in the room was electric — a real celebration of what’s possible when we invest in people and practical pathways. Whether you’re an apprentice, trainer, or employer, vocational education is helping to shape the future of Tropical North Queensland.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists — and best of luck in the State Finals!
