A Well-Deserved Honour
It’s no surprise, then, that the Tinaroo Rural Fire Brigade was named Northern Region Rural Service of the Year, standing out among over 200 other services. This incredible recognition is a testament to their unwavering commitment, bravery, and teamwork in the face of adversity.
And that wasn’t the only celebration of the day.
Celebrating Our Young Leaders
I was also proud to present the Northern Region Young Volunteer of the Year Award to Haylee, an outstanding young woman who has already made a powerful impact through her volunteer service. Haylee represents the future of our emergency services—skilled, passionate, and community-minded.
Recognising Decades of Dedication
Five National Medal 1st Clasp recipients were also honoured this morning—dedicated individuals who have spent nearly 30 years serving the Tablelands region. These are the same individuals who helped build the Tinaroo brigade from the ground up in 1998.
To First Officer Les Green, his wife and brigade Secretary and Treasurer Christine Green, and all the brigade members who received awards—thank you. Your leadership, courage, and service are the backbone of this community. You’ve stood side by side through fire seasons, training, callouts, and more—always ready when your neighbours needed you most.
A New Light Appliance for the Brigade
Today also marked another milestone, with the official handover of a new $165,000 Light Appliance to the Tinaroo Rural Fire Brigade. This modern vehicle is designed for both mitigation operations and emergency response, enhancing the brigade’s ability to act quickly, effectively, and safely when every second counts.
To all our volunteers in the Tinaroo brigade and beyond: thank you for your unwavering service, your sacrifice, and your courage. You’ve not only protected our homes and landscapes—you’ve inspired the deep respect and gratitude of your entire community.
You are true local heroes.
