Delivering is important — but so is continuing to fight for what our community needs next.

These are the priorities I am continuing to advocate for across Barron River and Far North Queensland.

North Queensland Cowboys Centre of Excellence

The priority: Support the development of a world-class Cowboys Centre of Excellence in Cairns.

The Cowboys are a huge part of our region’s identity, and a Cairns-based Centre of Excellence could create opportunities for young athletes, strengthen pathways into elite sport and deliver significant benefits for our local economy.

I will continue advocating for the investment and support needed to make this project a reality.

Where I’m at: I am calling on the community to have their say on this project. You can do so here.

Legacy House — More Support

The priority: Secure further support and funding for Legacy House.

Legacy House provides important support to veterans and their families across Far North Queensland. I will continue advocating for the funding needed to strengthen its services and ensure local veterans can access the support they deserve.

Where I’m at: $1 million has been committed by the Crisafulli Government after a strong community petition. We are now awaiting federal funding.

Supporting Live Music in Cairns

The priority: Make it easier for live music venues and local performers to operate and grow.

Our live music industry is an important part of Cairns’ culture, tourism economy and nightlife. I want to see sensible changes that support venues, musicians and local businesses while maintaining appropriate safety standards.

I will continue working with the industry and Government to identify practical regulatory changes that can help live music thrive.

Where I’m at: I am so pleased to share that after community feedback and consultation, the Nightlife Commissioner has released the Queensland’s first-ever Nightlife Economy Action Plan which addresses many of the key issues brought up by the community. You can read more here.

Redlynch Sporting Precinct

The priority: Get the planning and investment needed to create a better local centre for the growing Redlynch community.

Redlynch has grown significantly, and our local infrastructure needs to keep pace. I will continue advocating for a well-planned precinct that gives residents access to sporting facilities.

Where I’m at: I am working with Cairns Regional Council to get this project off the ground in 2026.

Freshwater Pathway

The priority: Deliver a safer, connected pathway through Freshwater.

A properly connected pathway would make it easier and safer for residents to walk, ride and move around the community, particularly families and school students.

I will continue working with the local community and relevant authorities to progress the project and secure the investment required.

Where I’m at: I am awaiting funding for this $2 million project.
