As a parent, small business owner, community advocate, and now your State Member of Parliament, I know how deeply decisions made in Brisbane affect the lives we live here in the Far North.

Whether it's improving our roads, backing local jobs and small businesses, protecting our environment, supporting families, or keeping our communities safe, I'm here to fight for our fair share and make sure we're never overlooked.

My team and I work tirelessly to represent the people of Barron River, and there is a lot of work to do. We have a deep passion for local issues and a commitment to progress. Together we are focused on delivering tangible outcomes for our region.

From PakMag to Politics

I began my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18, starting my first official business.

In 2003 I moved to Cairns and immediately knew this would be my home for life. In 2007, I started PakMag, a free parenting and children's magazine that was distributed monthly in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and online for 16 years. As a small business owner, one of my biggest passions is strengthening and supporting businesses.

The world is waiting for all of us to step up and take action. It’s not just the big issues. It’s also the small issues that can make a big difference. I am proud to be doing what I can to create positive change for Barron River and Queensland.

This week, I had the opportunity to meet with RAPAD (Remote Area Planning and Development Board) and Assistant Minister Sean Dillon MP, to discuss early childhood education challenges and opportunities across regional Queensland. As the Assistant Minister for Early Education, I was honoured to be included in the conversation, even from Far North Queensland, and to share insights on this important issue.

Thank you to RAPAD and everyone working across regional Queensland to strengthen the early childhood sector. By working together, we can improve access, support quality services, and help every Queensland child get the best possible start in life.

Congratulations to Cardzilla, a successful recipient of a Secure Communities Partnership Grant.

Cardzilla is one of 20 Far North Queensland businesses and organisations sharing in $180,000 in funding to support projects that strengthen community safety, resilience and connection.

This investment recognises the important role local organisations play in creating safer, more inclusive communities and delivering positive outcomes for residents across the region.

The next round of Secure Communities Partnership Grants will open soon, providing another opportunity for community groups, businesses and organisations to access funding for initiatives that support safer and stronger communities.

They work hard, employ locals, support our community and deserve to feel safe in their workplaces.

That`s why it`s great to see 20 Far North Queensland businesses receive support through the Crisafulli Government`s Secure Communities Partnership Program, with more than $180,000 helping fund security upgrades across our region including Cardzilla.

It was great to visit Andrew and Steve from Cardzilla with the Small Business Minister, Steve Minnikin MP to congratulate them on receiving this grant. Cardzilla will be upgrading their security door and investing in CCTV.

The next round of the funding will be opening later this year.
