Crankworx is more than just a mountain biking competition—it’s a celebration of gravity-fueled action sports, and Cairns once again proved itself as a world-class host. With events like Downhill, Dual Slalom, Pump Track, and Slopestyle on the schedule, fans were treated to five days of jaw-dropping skill and high-speed thrills.

Over the past three years, Crankworx Cairns has significantly contributed to the local economy, generating $19.5 million in economic impact for Queensland. The event has also resulted in more than 67,000 room nights and attracted 23,644 unique attendees. The festival has garnered international attention, amassing over 1.9 million global broadcast views, thereby enhancing Cairns’ reputation as a premier mountain biking destination.

From the roar of the crowd to the sheer commitment of the athletes, the entire week was packed with unforgettable moments.

  • Downhill: The elite downhill riders delivered lightning-fast runs on the technical Smithfield course, proving once again why this track is a global favourite. The men’s and women’s races were both decided by razor-thin margins.

  • Dual Slalom: A crowd favourite, the head-to-head racing format delivered nonstop action. Every corner, every pedal stroke mattered.

  • Slopestyle: Riders took flight in the jungle, sending massive tricks and gravity-defying stunts. This event always brings the wow-factor, and 2025 was no exception.

Australia’s homegrown heroes made a huge impact over the weekend:

  • Caroline Buchanan showed once again why she’s one of the most versatile and respected riders in the game, competing across multiple events and inspiring the next generation of Aussie shredders.

  • Jackson Frew kept the momentum going from a strong season start, lighting up the Pump Track Challenge with incredible speed and flow.

I was honoured to give out the awards to the winners for Pump Track and Downhill to our very own Tracey Hannah who took out 2nd place! It was also great to catch up with Camm C Caul from Red Bull TV.

It was clear that the home crowd had plenty to cheer about, with local talent stepping up and delivering standout performances on the global stage.
