Thousands of competitors from across the country and around the world descended on Far North Queensland, pushing their physical and mental limits in pursuit of the Ironman finish. Among them was an inspiration to us all — a 92-year-old athlete competing in the 70.3, proving that endurance knows no age limit and leaving the crowd in awe with his determination and heart.
Beyond the elite performances, what truly set this event apart was the community spirit. Cairns turned it on once again — from local volunteers to Traditional Owners, businesses, and supporters lining the course — showcasing the best of our region’s hospitality and heart.
I had the absolute privilege of handing out medals at the finish line, and witnessing the emotion, relief, and pride on the faces of every single athlete was something I won’t forget. From first-time finishers to seasoned triathletes, each had their own journey — and it was an honour to be part of their final moments on course.
Ironman Cairns is more than a race — it’s a celebration of resilience, unity, and tropical excellence. It brings the world to our doorstep and leaves a lasting impact on our community, both emotionally and economically.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in 2026 for another unforgettable chapter.
