For too long, Queensland’s housing system has been under pressure. After 10 years of neglect, the Crisafulli Government has committed to a new era of delivery — and today marks another important milestone.

At the official opening of Access Community Housing’s latest development in Earlville, 30 new social homes were handed over to Queenslanders in need of a safe, secure place to call home.

This development includes 20 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom homes, all built to either Platinum or Gold standard under the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines. This means they’re not only high-quality but also accessible for people with disability and for older Queenslanders who deserve inclusive, future-proof housing.

These homes are more than just bricks and mortar — they represent dignity, security, and opportunity. For 30 households, they are the start of a new chapter.

The Earlville homes form part of the Government’s long-term commitment to deliver 53,500 new social and community homes by 2044. This is backed by the largest investment in Queensland’s history: $5.6 billion over four years, as delivered in the 2025–26 State Budget.

This investment is part of a comprehensive housing plan to ease cost-of-living pressures and provide more Queenslanders with the security of a home.

Here in Far North Queensland, progress is already visible. Since July 2023, 138 new social homes have been delivered. In addition:

  • 590 homes are currently under construction

  • 185 homes are under contract for delivery

This is real action in response to real demand — and a sign of what strong partnerships can achieve.

Community housing providers like Access Community Housing Company play a vital role in this progress. Their leadership, along with the skilled workmanship of Keir Construction, has brought this Earlville development to life.

Partnerships like these are central to the Government’s long-term housing strategy. Initiatives such as the newly launched Queensland Community Housing Investment Pipeline (Q-CHIP) will help community housing providers submit projects year-round, strengthening the pipeline of construction and ensuring more homes are delivered sooner.

These 30 new homes are not just dwellings — they are 30 new beginnings for Queenslanders who need them most.

With record investment, strong partnerships, and a clear long-term plan, Queensland is on the path to ensuring every person has what they deserve: a safe and secure place to call home.
