It’s really positive to see that more than 160 kids are attending sessions of the Moonlight Hoops program each week.
We know the positive impact sport can have on the lives of young people and we hope to see more programs like this one in Cairns.
The program is supported by a $500,000 investment from the Crisafulli Government’s Youth Development Partnership Fund (YDPF), in partnership with Cairns Basketball and the Queensland Police Service with additional involvement from NBL athletes, including the Cairns Taipans.
The Crisafulli Government has launched a new guide to simplify the process for sporting clubs to receive funding for projects that will prevent at-risk youth from engaging in crime.
The Youth Development Partnership Fund (YDPF) is a statewide initiative between the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Queensland Police Service. Moonlight Hoops received $500,000 to deliver the program in 2024, continuing for 2025.
