Queensland has cemented its reputation as Australia’s “Home of the Holiday”, welcoming 2.4 million international visitors in the year ending December 2025 and generating a record $7.5 billion in spending for the state’s economy.

The latest data from Tourism Research Australia shows Queensland outperformed the national average, highlighting the success of the Crisafulli Government’s Destination 2045 tourism plan in delivering long-term growth and global appeal.

  • 2.4 million international visitors, up 9.8%
  • 1.4 million holidaymakers, up 10.3%, spending $3.6 billion (up 29.7%)
  • New Zealanders led the way with 508,000 visitors spending a record $990.4 million

Other top international markets included:

  • China – $1.3 billion
  • United Kingdom – $658.2 million (record)
  • Japan – $525.7 million
  • United States – $502.4 million
  • Taiwan – $302.4 million (record)
  • France – $193.2 million (record)

Queensland’s top destinations for international visitor spend were:

  1. Brisbane
  2. Gold Coast
  3. Tropical North Queensland – strongest regional performer with a record $1.2 billion in expenditure and 622,000 visitors, above-average growth

Domestic tourism also remained a vital part of the economy, with total visitor expenditure reaching $36.9 billion, supported by strong day-trip activity.

The Crisafulli Government’s Destination 2045 plan ensures Queensland remains the ultimate holiday destination for decades to come.
