The Crisafulli Government has brought locals, business leaders, and police together in Cairns to address growing concerns about antisocial behaviour in the CBD.
The session gave community members the chance to share first-hand experiences of how antisocial behaviour is impacting tourism, families, and local businesses. I am blown away by the support and the insight of our community members, business owners, tourism operators and more who shared their concerns. Thank you for speaking up.
For many in Cairns, today’s workshop marked the first time in years their concerns have been directly heard by Government. The forum focused on practical solutions to restore safety in the city and ensure Cairns remains welcoming for both locals and visitors.
Premier Crisafulli made clear that restoring safety is a central priority. He said the behaviour that has plagued the city for too long will no longer be ignored. Families and tourists should feel secure while enjoying Cairns, and small businesses should be able to operate without disruption.
This is what delivering for Queensland looks like. Delivering stronger laws, placing more police on the frontline, and launching the State’s largest ever crime crackdown. The forum was another step toward creating lasting change for Cairns.
In just ten months, the Crisafulli Government has taken action to reverse years of weakening laws and reduced police numbers. By combining stronger enforcement with early intervention and rehabilitation, the Government is working to restore safety where people live.
Today’s forum is one of many steps to ensure that Cairns residents, business owners, and visitors can feel confident about the future of their community.
