There has been a significant amount of misinformation circulating recently regarding the future of the Cairns Western Arterial Road (CWAR) at Caravonica.

I want to be incredibly clear with our community about the facts vs fiction around this vital project.

MYTH 1: The Cairns Western Arterial Road is no longer happening.

TRUTH: This vital project is not being shelved; in fact, it is being fast-tracked.

While some have attempted to spread fear by claiming this project has been cut, the reality is quite the opposite.

The only party to ever shelf this road was the former Labor state government, who were sent back to the drawing board by their own federal colleagues due to project mismanagement

By contrast, we are getting on with the job.

MYTH 2: This Project is not part of any Plan.

TRUTH: Not at all. Not only is it an election commitment, it’s also an Olympics commitment and part of the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Arrangements Act.
By including this project in the , we have ensured its delivery is fast-tracked as part of the 2032 delivery plan

We are doing the necessary planning to ensure that after years of delays, this infrastructure is finally delivered for the people of Barron River

MYTH 3: This project is with the State Government.

TRUTH: While it is part of the Crisafulli Government’s Delivery 2032 Plan, this is also managed with the Labor Federal Government and we are working closely with the Federal Government to ensure this road is prioritised.

MYTH 4: You don’t care about this project

TRUTH: I know how important this road is to your daily lives and our safety

This is our main arterial road connecting the northern beaches to the city, making it absolutely vital during times of disaster. This is a road I drive daily, along with the 40,000 other residents in this area. My commitment has and always will be with bettering Barron River and this includes ensuring an improved CWAR is delivered to our region.

Rest assured, I will continue to work closely with the department to ensure we finally get the road that our community deserves. This project is well and truly on track, and we are moving forward.
