Queensland women now have access to new opportunities designed to make returning to work easier and more affordable. Through the Women’s Career Grants program, eligible women can apply for up to $5,000 in financial support to help overcome the practical and economic barriers that often stand in the way of re-entering the workforce.

This initiative recognises that the path back to work can be challenging, especially after career breaks for parenting, family care, or other personal reasons. The grants can be used to cover a wide range of expenses such as workwear, childcare, training, recertification, transport to job interviews, relocation costs, or the purchase of essential tools and technology.

Backed by a $20 million investment, the Women’s Career Grants program reflects a strong commitment to advancing women’s economic security and ensuring more Queenslanders have access to good jobs and stable incomes.

To ensure the program delivers meaningful outcomes, the Queensland Government is partnering with Future Women, the organisation behind the successful Jobs Academy initiative. Together, they will deliver the first two years of the program, offering women practical assistance and career support tailored to their individual needs.

In addition to launching the Women’s Career Grants, the Government has announced a $4 million extension of the Jobs Academy Program, ensuring continued support for more Queensland women in 2026 and 2027. This extension will allow another 500 women to access upskilling opportunities, preparing them for a confident return to the workforce.

These programs are part of a broader effort to deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy. They aim to unlock opportunities for women across Queensland by reducing cost barriers and fostering independence, choice, and confidence.

Too often, talented and capable women are prevented from pursuing new roles simply because of the financial cost of getting started again — whether that’s paying for childcare during interviews, updating qualifications, or buying new work clothes. The Women’s Career Grants directly address those challenges, offering practical, targeted support where it’s needed most.

By investing in women’s economic participation, Queensland is not only supporting individuals and families — it’s strengthening the entire economy. Empowered women create stronger communities, more resilient workplaces, and a brighter future for everyone.
