The Crisafulli Government is listening to Far North Queensland locals as part of the next phase of consultation on the future of regulated regional air services in Queensland, following on from initial engagement sessions from late 2025.
The 16 sessions being held over the coming weeks mark the second round of community consultation across the state, but the first consultation in Cairns.
The Crisafulli Government currently funds seven regulated and subsidised air routes to ensure Queenslanders living in regional and remote communities can access vital medical, educational, social, and business services.
Queensland communities, including locals in Cairns and across Far North Queensland are being invited to help shape the next generation of regional aviation services across the State.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads will host an in-person public consultation session on 23 February 2026 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Cairns Convention Centre Business Centre – Meeting Room BC2, BC3 & BC4 Cnr Wharf & Sheridan Street, Cairns

In line with the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to listen to Queensland’s regional communities, in-person consultation session will be hosted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
The feedback we receive during this consultation will directly inform the future of regional aviation in the Far North. We’re here to listen to the people from Cairns to Mount Isa and towns in between who use these services to make sure they’re delivering for the communities who rely on them the most.
We want every Queenslander in our region to have confidence that the Crisafulli Government will deliver the transport options they need.
