The Crisafulli Government’s State Flying Squad, Queensland’s largest police rapid response unit, is delivering real results in Far North Queensland, helping restore safety and rebuild community confidence after a decade of rising youth crime.
As part of sustained deployments across the Far North District, police have charged more than 800 offenders, including 455 young people, with over 2,200 offences. The operations are targeting property crime, serious repeat offenders and anti-social behaviour, while providing critical support to local frontline police.
Recent Flying Squad deployments have focused on crime hotspots across the region. In Kuranda, specialist officers worked alongside local police to target break and enter and property crime, charging 10 offenders, finalising 21 case files in just days, and delivering more than 200 hours of operational support.
Since its establishment on 12 January 2025, the State Flying Squad has been deployed 21 times across the Far North District, providing intelligence-led, rapid-response policing where it is needed most.
The Crisafulli Government is backing police with stronger laws, more resources and more boots on the ground. Since the October 2024 election, Queensland has seen a net increase of 588 police officers, compared with just 174 added under Labor over four years.
This renewed focus on frontline policing is part of a broader strategy to address the Youth Crime Crisis created by Labor’s weak laws, reduced police numbers and failure to invest in early intervention — a decade of decline that left communities paying the price.
The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety across Queensland with stronger laws, more police, and the largest investment in early intervention and rehabilitation in the state’s history — ensuring communities are safer now and into the future.
Deployment Results Across Far North Queensland:

Real action. Real results. We still have a long way to go but I won’t stop until we get there.
