The Crisafulli Government is marking a major milestone in its push to make Queensland safer. In just one month, the newly established Tablelands Property Crime Unit has charged 52 people with 165 offences, sending a clear message to repeat offenders and serious criminals across Far North Queensland.
Building on the success of the Cairns Property Crime Unit, the Tablelands team was launched last month to target repeat offenders, stolen vehicles, and serious property crime. In its first month alone, the unit has achieved:
- 22 adults charged with 104 offences
- 30 youths charged with 61 offences
The Crisafulli Government’s new unit is directly tackling the Youth Crime Crisis that Labor left behind.
The Tablelands Property Crime Unit brings together detectives and plain-clothes officers who work alongside:
- Far North Tactical Crime Squad
- Far North Dog Squad
- General duties police
- POLAIR
This coordinated effort ensures that offenders are disrupted, caught, and held accountable, delivering immediate safety improvements to communities across the Tablelands and Far North.
We are making Queensland safer by delivering more police with stronger laws to ensure Queenslanders can live their lives without fear. I want to commend our hardworking police officers who are on the frontline every day; their dedication and tireless work is already delivering real results against Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis.
The first month of the Tablelands Property Crime Unit demonstrates that immediate action, focused resources, and a commitment to law and order can make Queensland safer for everyone.
