I was delighted to join owner Norm Caird, the Mareeba Bush Stays team and invited guests to celebrate the official opening of this fantastic new accommodation experience in the heart of the Mareeba region.
Located on 150 acres of private bushland just 8 kilometres from Mareeba, Mareeba Bush Stays has already established itself as a popular destination for caravanners, RV travellers and visitors looking to experience the natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle of the Atherton Tablelands.
Perched on a ridge with panoramic views across the surrounding landscape, the property offers powered and unpowered sites, walking trails, abundant wildlife, stocked dams and easy access to some of Far North Queensland’s most iconic attractions, including the famous rock wallabies of Granite Gorge.
The latest investment expands Mareeba Bush Stays’ accommodation options with the addition of luxury glamping tents, providing visitors with a premium nature-based experience that combines the beauty of the bush with modern comfort and convenience.
The project was supported by $200,000 in Queensland Government funding, helping bring the vision to life and creating a unique accommodation experience that appeals to a wider range of travellers.
Each glamping tent features modern amenities, stylish furnishings and private outdoor spaces, allowing guests to immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing comfort.
The new accommodation is ideal for couples, families and travellers who may not own camping equipment but still want to enjoy an authentic outback experience in one of Queensland’s most picturesque regions.
Tourism remains one of the key drivers of the Far North Queensland economy, supporting approximately one in seven jobs across the region and attracting around 2.7 million visitors each year, who contribute more than $4.2 billion to the local economy.
By diversifying accommodation options on the Tablelands, the new glamping experience is expected to attract new markets, increase visitor expenditure and support local cafés, restaurants, attractions and tourism operators.
